| Dear
Parent, Thank
you for your interest in Nanny Placement Service. The idea of our business was
prompted by a demand for quality in-home childcare. Finding satisfactory childcare
is a challenging, often excruciating task. Working parents require more help than
ever to keep their family lives in order. Our goal is to reduce the risks of in-home
childcare, save screening time for you, and most importantly, allow you to leave
the house confident that your children will enjoy a safe, happy, and stimulating
environment. Our
nannies are expected to interact with the children on an age-appropriate level
and to give them the 'one on one' care that ensures a support network and promotes
healthy development. We make every effort to be available for guidance and support
to both families and nannies as they work together as a unit to provide a secure
and loving atmosphere for the children. The
screening process begins with a personal interview with the candidates in our
West Chester office. As we go over their application, we ask additional questions
to help us get to know them a little better. We engage them in conversations about
their lifestyles, families, siblings and other significant relationships. This
information is helpful in learning about their backgrounds. We ask that each nanny
candidate list three to five references. These references should include individuals
who have known the candidate through past childcare experience, personally, or
who have worked with them in another capacity. We look for individuals who have
had childcare experience, exhibit good judgment, and have a stable and happy disposition.
During
the second part of the interview, we assist the candidate in filling out the Criminal
History, Child Abuse and driving record forms. We are connected directly to the
central repository in Harrisburg and are able to get immediate results for the
Criminal History clearance. NPS sends the Child Abuse clearance to Harrisburg.
The law in Pennsylvania stipulates that this clearance must be sent back to the
candidate for confidentiality reasons. This process can take up to two weeks.
When the nanny candidate receives the Child Abuse clearance back in the mail,
she is required to give a copy to the employing family and to send one to NPS
to complete her file. After the nanny has accepted a position, she is required
to set up a time to meet with our EMS specialist, who will go to her home or yours
to bring her up to date with the latest CPR techniques for infants and toddlers.
In addition, the nanny candidate is required to undergo a ten-panel drug screen
by a professional laboratory. Results from the drug screening come back to us
within twenty-four to forty-eight hours. In
order for us to begin the selection, please fill out the Family
Application Form and return it to us along with the application fee of $150.00.
Upon receipt of the application, we will call to verify the information that you
have given to us and to answer any questions that you may have about our service.
After a nanny candidate has been screened, she will be given your name and phone
number so that she can make contact with you to set up a time to meet with your
family. Please call in after each interview to review your visit with the candidate. Please
see the fee schedule to determine the amount
of your placement fee. The placement fee is due upon identification of the nanny
candidate.
